Elm
Elm is a medium density hardwood with a specific gravity of 0.55. It has a reddish brown heart wood and a pale sapwood. It is a ring-porous wood that tends to have interlocked grain, making it difficult to split and sometimes difficult to machine. Due to Dutch Elm Disease, it is an increasingly more difficult specie to source. Get your hands on it while you can!
