Description
Basswood is a soft hardwood that machines well and is easy to work with hand tools, making it a premier carving wood. It has pale, yellowish brown heartwood with creamy white or pale tan sapwood. Because basswood is very lightweight, it is often used for Venetian blinds and carvings, as well as sashes and door frames, mouldings, wooden ware, boxes, guitars, furniture, and beehives.
