What to expect? Fine Craftsman Lumber’s Basswood

Basswood is known for its soft, clean properties. The sapwood is often cream or white in color, but darker streaks can also be visible in the species’ heartwood. Fine Craftsman Lumber’s Basswood is offered rough, meaning no surfacing or planing occurs, because it typically runs so clean.

Because it is such a soft and light species, basswood is highly desired for hand carving, specialty projects, and millwork. It also nails, screws and glues well and can be easily sanded and stained to your desired finish.

We offer two grade options for basswood. The first is select & better and the second is our fine craftsman grade that is clear one face.
