What to expect? Fine Craftsman Lumber’s Soft Maple

Harvested from northern Wisconsin, our soft maple is referred to as red maple. Soft maple is known for its good machining and turning properties.

Our soft maple is best used for furniture, cabinet making, millwork, and flooring. Color can vary. A lot of our customers like the whiteness soft maple provides. The sapwood color can vary from white to off-white with hues of red and gold.

We offer two grade options for soft maple. The first is sap and better, select and better grade and the second is our fine craftsman grade. Depending on the project, soft maple can sometimes be used as a substitute for hard maple.
